Sierra Energy Attends NREL Growth Forum

Aug 13, 2014

The U.S. Department of Energy’s National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL) 24th Industry Growth Forum attracted more than 500 investors, entrepreneurs,  scientists, and policymakers to Denver. Sierra Energy’s Mike Hart was one of them.
The three-day forum highlighted clean energy technology and business developments. Sierra Energy also took part in one-on-one meetings and the Partnership Accelerator, unique programs designed to cultivate collaborative opportunities between start-up technologies and the venture capitalist community.
“The necessity to approach our energy issues differently in the future requires a high level of innovation. This forum brings together the entrepreneurs, investors and policymakers needed to bring about transformational change that will be critical to nurturing that innovation,” said Bill Farris, NREL Vice President for Commercialization and Technology Transfer.
This event gave Sierra Energy the opportunity to speak with several venture capital and strategic investment companies, including: BP Ventures, Advanced Technology Ventures, the DOE, DTE Energy Ventures, Chrysalix, Khosla Ventures, Altira Capital, Mohr Davidow, Rockport Capital, and more. Sierra Energy was also able to hear the experiences from other green technology start-ups who have gone through the stages of development that Sierra Energy is about to embark. Mike Hart also met with representatives at the NREL facility who will help Sierra with testing and development of innovative back-end uses for the syngas produced by our FastOx gasifier.
